hat is Renter's Insurance?

Renter’s Insurance is in many ways similar to the insurance you can purchase when you rent a car.

Renter's Insurance typically covers:

  • Liability to others for damages or injuries as a result of an accident while using a rented vessel
  • Physical damage to the vessel and other property damage suffered as a result of the accident
  • Medical payments
  • Injuries caused by uninsured boaters in an accident involving a rented vessel
  • Fuel and spill liability

What Does It Cost?

There is no cost to you as the boat rental operator to offer Renter’s Insurance to your customers. It is built into the booking platform, and once activated, the insurance will be ready to be offered to customers.

Your customers will pay an insurance premium if they choose to select the insurance option.

How does it Work?

Depending on your settings, the customer will be offered to purchase renter's insurance during the booking process or prior to check in. In both cases, the customer can make the decision prior to arriving for the boat rental.

Check In

During the Check In process, you will be able to see if the customer chose the insurance. As an option, the renter can choose to change their decision at this time by adding or removing their insurance choice.

The Check In screen shows renter's insurance status

The insurance is automatically issued and the insurance certificate is emailed to your customer when the Check In is complete.

There is nothing additional you will have to do as the rental operator to manage the renter’s insurance. The process happens automatically through the BookingCentral rental platform.

How To Get Started

To get started with offering Renter's Insurance, the first step is to register your fleet with an insurance provider. Once registered, you will integrate the insurance provider with the booking platform. This is a quick task, and can be completed within a few days.
